24 TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute – International Student Guide TAFE NSW Calendar 2015 TAFE NSW Academic Calendar 2015 Semester 1 Term 1 2 February - 2 April Autumn Vacation 3 April - 19 April Term 2 20 April - 26 June Winter Vacation 27 June - 12 July Semester 2 Term 3 13 July - 20 September Spring Vacation 21 September - 5 October Term 4 6 October - 13 December Summer Vacation 14 December - 1 February 2016 Accommodation TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute (WSI) International Students can access University of Western Sydney (UWS) Accommodation TAFE NSW - WSI students can study and live in the one location if they stay at the UWS Residential Colleges of Penrith, Hawkesbury and Nirimba (Quaker’s Hill). These Residential Colleges are located close to TAFE NSW Nepean, Richmond and Nirimba Colleges respectively. UWS residential colleges offer a choice of self-catered accommodation ranging from residential halls to townhouses, cottages and units. UWS Village at Parramatta offers independent living in brand new apartments. Students can apply to stay here as it is close to Parramatta station which is on the same train line as many of the Western Sydney Institute colleges. TAFE NSW Accommodation Placement TAFE NSW can arrange short-term homestay accommodation for you when you arrive in Australia. ‘Homestay’ is when you live with an Australian family in their home and includes some meals. To book the Accommodation Placement service, please tick the box on your TAFE International application form. The International Students Centre will send you a Service Request form with your offer letter asking you to confirm your requirements. The fee for Accommodation Placement is $180. *Under 18 years at time of entry to Australia If you are under 18 years of age at time of entry to Australia, students must make appropriate care arrangements to comply with student visa conditions. Living in the Western Sydney region is much cheaper than the city centre? You also may want to share accommodation with WSI students to reduce the accommodation rental fee. International students are eligible for selected MyMulti 6 months or 1 year discounted tickets up to 33 % off the regular ticket price. MyMulti tickets allow you to travel from a range of Sydney train stations as well as government and private bus, light rail and government ferry travel.
