4 TAFE NSW -- Western Sydney Institute -- Course and Career Guide 2010 There are several ways of enrolling in our courses, depending on the type of course. You may enrol by: Application: Applications are required in advance for some qualifications. Places in these courses are generally in high demand or they may require a portfolio or audition. They are listed with "Application required" against them in this Course and Career Guide. If you apply and your application is successful, you do not have to go to a college to enrol. You may enrol and pay online. You will be advised by mail how to do this. General enrolment: takes place at colleges on nominated enrolment days. Online enrolment: • for students re-enrolling in the same course. Yo u may re-enrol, and pay online through TAFE NSW Student e-Services at www.tafensw.edu.au. Re-enrolling students will be sent a reminder at re-enrolment time. • for students in some TAFE PLUS* courses. *Under the TAFE PLUS program, Western Sydney Institute delivers a wide range of training courses. These courses are fee for service. Some are short courses, delivered frequently. Others are longer, specialised qualifications that run on demand. Di erent enrolment conditions apply to courses and qualifications in the TAFE PLUS program (see page 20). Applying and enrolling A step-by-step guide to applying and enrolling Step 1 Is an application needed for your course? YES? Complete and lodge the TAFE NSW Course Application Form. This is available online at wsi.tafensw.edu.au, or at any TAFE NSW college. Semester 1 2010 course applications open 10 August 2009 and close 30 October 2009. To study in these Semester 1 2010 courses, you must lodge your application at the college of your first choice by the October closing date. If you are reading this Guide after this closing date, we encourage you to contact the college, as places may still be available. From early January 2010 students will receive letters confirming the outcome of their applications. Some courses also take new students in Semester 2. Check our website wsi.tafensw.edu.au, call 131 870 or send us an SMS on 0428 423 102 (text only). NO? Read the Course Information Leaflet. Check whether there is an Information Session and how and when you enrol. If you are doing a TAFE PLUS program, online registration and payment may be available. Re-enrolling students will be sent a reminder and instructions on how to re-enrol. Step 2 Make sure you meet the entry requirements for the course you have chosen. Entry requirements for each course are shown in the course listing in this Guide or refer to the Course Information Leaflet. If you need to attend the college to enrol, note any Information Sessions and/or the enrolment days and times in your diary and ensure you have everything you need with you when you attend, including correct payment. For courses where online registration and payment is available, make sure you register correctly before class commences.
