The automotive industry o ers a wide range of careers and includes the service and repair of engines, repair of vehicles for diesel, petrol and 'green' hybrid engines of commercial and private vehicles and also agricultural machinery. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. You will need access to a simulated or industrial environment to gain su cient experience to achieve the standards required for specified units of competency in this course. Career opportunity: Job or further study in the automotive industry. Certificate II in (NRT) Automotive Aftermarket Manufacturing (Accessory Fitting) Course No 5482 Training Pkg Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair National Code AUR20205 Duration 2 years part-time Location Blacktown For employed trainees working in the automotive aftermarket accessory fitting industry. You will learn how to install automotive mechanical accessory components such as tow bars, bull bars and roof racks. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. You must be employed as a trainee in the relevant trade area to gain su cient experience to achieve the units of competence requirements. Career opportunity: Automotive Accessory Fitter. Certificate II in (NRT) Automotive Electrical Technology Course No 17969 Training Pkg Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair National Code AUR20408 Duration 2 years part-time Location Blacktown For employed trainees working in the automotive electrical accessory industry. You will learn how to fit electrical accessories such as driving lights, sound systems and security systems. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. Nicholas Azzopardi Certificate III in Automotive Vehicle Body Mount Druitt College Fourth year apprentice Nicholas has had a passion for cars since an early age. As children he and his older brothers revamped cars and later he decided to follow the trade as a career path. He enjoyed learning di erent techniques of vehicle painting at TAFE, some of which are not commonly practised in the workshop. He would like to undertake a panel beating course and continue learning and building up his skills. Nicholas would like to become a TAFE teacher. Nicholas was presented with the Transport and Logistics Student of the Year at the 2009 TAFE NSW -- Western Sydney Institute Student Excellence Awards.
