It is one of the Australian economy's largest industries, employing about 860,000 people, or 8.6 per cent of the total workforce. WSI o ers qualifications from Certificate to Diploma levels which are nationally recognised and valued across the industry. For long-term sustainability, the Building and Construction industry must adapt to new technologies and products. WSI is applying green skills and sustainability principles to all programs in building and construction to enable graduates to obtain skills for the future. TAFE PLUS Statement in Architectural CAD 1 Course No 22994 Duration 4 Saturdays Location Nirimba TAFE PLUS fee applies This provides the knowledge and skills to produce simple architectural drawings using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). You will learn how to operate CAD software to initialise drawings, create and use layers, construct basic architectural symbols and drawings, save and transfer drawing files, modify existing CAD drawings, plot a CAD drawing, and perform appropriate exit procedures. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. You must have basic computer skills. TAFE Statement in Backflow Prevention Course No 1485 Duration 3 days Location Mount Druitt TAFE PLUS fee applies You will learn the skills to test and maintain backflow prevention devices as required by water authorities. Entry requirements: You must be a registered or licenced plumber, water plumber, irrigation installer or sprinkler fitter. Refer to the Course Information Leaflet for equivalent pre-requisite units. TAFE PLUS Statement in Bonded Asbestos Nominated Supervisor (WorkCover NSW Licence) Course No 17632 Duration 4 hours Location Nirimba TAFE PLUS fee applies For experienced construction workers who are required to supervise the removal of bonded asbestos. You will learn the requirements of OHS regulations and codes of practice regarding client consultation, site establishment plans, working at height procedures, safe work method statements, waste removal procedures, and WorkCover notification procedures. On successful completion you may be eligible to apply to WorkCover NSW for an Asbestos Supervisor licence. Entry requirements: Completion of TAFE NSW course 9055 Course in Bonded Asbestos Sheet Removal or equivalent. You must be able to read and understand English. Kylie Harvey Diploma of Architectural Technology Nirimba College Kylie Harvey always had a creative streak and an interest in technical drawing but after finishing school found herself steered in another direction altogether. However, once in her thirties, Kylie decided to pursue her dream and studied the Diploma of Architectural Technology part-time at Nirimba College.
