National sporting culture is traditionally focused around outdoor sports; increasingly Australians are choosing sports that are played indoors, in recreation centres or gymnasiums. As an alternative to organised sport many are also choosing to stay fit at health and fitness centres. Fitness instructors, personal trainers and floor supervisors can generally find work anywhere in Australia, and some will gain prominence through supporting national competitions and Australia's elite athletes. For every level of sporting activity, there are also jobs available for coaches, o cials and referees, sports development o cers, administrators, trainers, curators or ground maintenance sta or venue operators. WSI also o ers training in Thoroughbred Racing. Certificate III in (NRT) Fitness Application required -- see page 4 Course No 18227 Training Pkg Fitness Industry National Code SRF30206 Duration 18 weeks full-time, 1 year part-time Location Nepean (Kingswood) You will gain the skills needed to work with individuals or groups as a fitness instructor within clearly defined contexts ("low risk" clients without special needs). Certificate IV in (NRT) Fitness Application required -- see page 4 Course No 18228 Training Pkg Fitness Industry National Code SRF40206 Duration 18 weeks full-time, 1 year part-time Location Nepean (Kingswood) You will gain the skills needed to work with individuals or groups as a fitness trainer (personal trainer) in a broad range of venues with a variety of di erent client groups. You will be required to undertake a large component of physical activity and exercise. Entry requirements: Certificate III Fitness or equivalent. Nicholas Fernandez Certificate III and IV in Fitness Nepean College Nineteen year old Nicholas Fernandez is a professional figure skater and is currently training for the 2010 Olympics. He completed the Certificate III in Fitness at Nepean College and is studying the Certificate IV. Nicholas wants to help raise the profile of figure skating and says there is a skills shortage in the sport with not enough trainers to go around.
