If working with animals is a passion for you consider learning how to breed, train and maintain the health of horses in a stable, companion and zoo animals. Horse Farming is primarily involved in horse breeding, with the majority of horses bred for racing. Almost 70% of expenditure on breeding is associated with racing horses. There are a wide range of careers available in the horse breeding industry, and with the skills of Australian workers in international demand there are opportunities to work in the northern hemisphere during Australia's o -season. WSI also o ers training for animal research, veterinarian nursing, equine massage and dog grooming. Please contact the college as you may need to complete an Expression of Interest. Entry requirements: NSW School Certificate or equivalent. The ability to undertake workplace practice is required. Career opportunity: Animal Technician. Diploma of (NRT) Animal Technology Course No 1066 Training Pkg Animal Care and Management National Code RUV50104 Duration 2 years part-time Location Richmond Provides the industry qualification for a Senior Animal Technician or Manager within a research facility. Please contact the college as you may need to complete an Expression of Interest. Entry requirements: NSW HSC or equivalent plus the Certificate III in Animal Technology or equivalent. You must also have access to an animal technology workplace. Career opportunity: Senior Animal Technician. TAFE PLUS Statement in Animal Training -- Introduction Course No 26536 Duration 2 days Location Richmond TAFE PLUS fee applies For workers in the animal care industry and anyone with an interest in animal training. It introduces you to the science of behaviour and learning, showing you how to apply this knowledge when working with animals. You will practise your skills on rats or chickens. Entry requirements: There are no formal educational requirements. Career opportunity: Worker in the animal care industry. Certificate III in (NRT) Captive Animals Course No 1068 Training Pkg Animal Care and Management National Code RUV30204 Duration 1.5 years part-time, flexible, online Location Richmond For people wishing to work in zoos, wildlife parks, theme parks and sanctuaries. Please contact the college as you may need to complete an Expression of Interest. Entry requirements: NSW School Certificate or equivalent. Access to an animal care workplace is required. If you are unable to gain workplace practice, we suggest you study Certificate II in Animal Studies. Career opportunities: Zookeeper, Wildlife Parks Keeper, Theme Parks/ Sanctuary Keeper, Wildlife Carer, Rescuer. Certificate IV in (NRT) Captive Animals Course No 1089 Training Pkg Animal Care and Management National Code RUV40204 Duration 1 year flexible or online Location Richmond For people who want to work with animals and present keeper talks and/or information sessions to visitors. Please contact the college as you may need to complete an Expression of Interest. Entry requirements: NSW HSC or equivalent and 10 core units from Certificate III in Captive Animals. You must have access to a workplace that houses captive animals as workplace practice is an essential component of the assessment requirement of this course.
