There is a wide variety of jobs; some are highly creative or technical, while others are administrative or customer-service oriented. A successful career in the arts does not mean you have to be an artist -- there are many other options. Many people work behind the scenes in the arts. For example, the performance of a play requires not only actors but a range of people including a producer, director, lighting technician, stage manager and costume designer. Behind every performance and exhibition there are many people responsible for putting on a show! The Media industry is responsible for the creation and storage of information products, such as creative content -- the stories, photographs and music -- contained in movies, newspapers, books and television and radio broadcasts Interactive games and digital industries worldwide and in Australia continue to evolve and are growing rapidly. This growth will see a demand in skilled people. Entry requirements: NSW HSC or equivalent plus the submission of a portfolio, or Certificate III in Ceramics or equivalent plus the submission of a portfolio. Diploma of (NRT) Communication and Media Course No 9075 Training Pkg Film, TV, Radio and Multimedia National Code 91405NSW Duration 1 year full-time Location Blacktown For people who want to develop competencies in writing and editing, presentation, project management and media production, interpersonal skills and the use of communication technology tools. Entry requirements: NSW HSC or equivalent or appropriate industry experience under supervision in a communication and/or media role. Amy Trent Advanced Diploma of Interior Design Nepean College Amy knew from a very early age that she wanted to be an interior designer. She began her TAFE course as soon as she could after finishing high school, choosing it over university because of the hands on experience it entailed. "You get the knowledge, the practice and the skill that writing an essay doesn't give you," said Amy. Amy found it easy to adapt from TAFE to the workplace, being able to apply the knowledge she gained from her course. She found that every assessment was geared towards building contacts and understanding of the industry.
