6 TAFE NSW -- Western Sydney Institute -- Course and Career Guide 2011 Applying and enrolling Applying and enrolling There are several ways of enrolling in our courses. Depending on the type of course you have chosen, you may enrol by: Application: Applications are required in advance for some qualifications. Places in these courses are generally in high demand or they may require a portfolio or audition. They are listed with Application required against them in this Course and Career Guide. If you apply and your application is successful, you do not have to go to a college to enrol. You may enrol and pay online. You will be advised by mail how to do this. General enrolment: takes place at colleges on nominated enrolment days. Online enrolment: • for students re-enrolling in the same course. You may re-enrol, and pay online through TAFE NSW Student e-Services at www.tafensw.edu.au. Re-enrolling students will be sent a reminder at re-enrolment time. • for students in some WSI PLUS* courses. To find out what type of enrolment method is right for your course check the Course Information Leaflet on our website wsi.tafensw.edu.au or contact course information on 131 870. *WSI PLUS programs - Western Sydney Institute delivers a wide range of training courses that are fee for service. Some are short courses, delivered frequently. Others are longer, specialised qualifications that run on demand. Di erent enrolment conditions apply for courses and qualifications in the WSI PLUS program (see page 17). A step-by-step guide to applying and enrolling Step 1 Is an application needed for your course? YES? Complete and lodge the TAFE NSW Course Application Form at the college of your first choice by the closing date. This is available online at wsi. tafensw.edu.au, or at any TAFE NSW college. • Applications open for Semester 1 2011 on 9 August 2010 and close 29 October 2010. If you are reading this Guide after the closing date, we encourage you to contact the college, as places may still be available. From early January 2011 students will receive letters confirming the outcome of their applications. Some courses also take new students in Semester 2. Check our website wsi.tafensw.edu.au, call 131 870 or send us an SMS on 0428 423 102 (text only). NO? Read the Course Information Leaflet. Check whether there is an Information Session and how and when you enrol. If you are doing a WSI PLUS program, online registration and payment may be available. Step 2 Make sure you meet the entry requirements for the course you have chosen. Entry requirements for each course are shown in the course listing in this Guide or refer to the Course Information Leaflet. If you would like assistance on how to prepare your application please contact a vocational counsellor at the College of your choice by calling 131 870 to make an appointment. If you need to attend the college to enrol, note any Information Sessions and/or the enrolment days and times in your diary and ensure you have everything you need with you when you attend, including correct payment. For courses where online registration and payment is available, make sure you register correctly before class commences.
