TAFE WSI - 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW 22 2012 YEAR IN REVIEW ENTERPRISE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Partner with enterprises to provide customised workforce development solutions to improve business capability, productivity and sustainability. NEW COLLABORATIONS, NEW TRAINING PATHWAYS New collaborations between WSI and various enterprises led to new training pathways in 2012. These collaborations have enabled WSI to provide its expertise e ciently. WSI's collaboration with the Escarpment Group in 2012 led to the development of a live-in hotel training facility in the Blue Mountains. The Hotel Management Institute will commence in the near future and provides vocational skills, work experience, training pathways and accommodation to students within the tourism and hospitality industry. Within this agreement, iconic Blue Mountains hotels Lillianfels Resort and Spa, the Hydro Majestic and Echoes Boutique Hotel and Restaurant provide workforce development, work experience and accommodation for Hotel Management Institute students. WSI provides training in dual tourism and hospitality qualifications and pathways to degree level qualifications in partnership with the universities. The two year program includes advanced diplomas and an optional third year degree program in Applied Management. In 2012 TAFE NSW was named preferred provider for urban transformation project, Barangaroo South. As the Lead Institute for training activities, WSI has entered into a collaborative partnership with Lend Lease, the developer of Barangaroo South. Planning was carried out in 2012 to match training to construction schedules and to secure funding. Programs will include Workplace English Language and Literacy, Investing in Experience (for over 50s), National Workforce Development and Australian Apprenticeships Mentoring Program. Training commenced in 2013.
